What's covered, in plain English
Every Joe Phuket rental car is fully insured with Tokio Marine Safety Insurance (Thailand) PCL, one of Thailand's largest motor insurers. Every car has its own policy with its own number, openly published on the booking page.
Typical cover for a vehicle in the fleet includes:
- Third-party bodily injury: ฿10,000,000–฿20,000,000 per incident
- Third-party property damage: ฿1,000,000 per incident
- Own damage: ฿570,000–฿950,000 per incident (฿3,000 deductible)
- Theft & fire: ฿570,000–฿950,000
- Personal accident: ฿50,000 per occupant (driver + passengers)
- Medical expenses: ฿50,000 per person
- Bail bond
- Territory: Thailand
Exact figures vary per vehicle — every car's full policy is shown on its booking page.
The single excess figure
The most important number is the excess — the fixed maximum you would ever pay out of pocket if something goes wrong, before the insurer covers the rest. We publish that figure up-front for every car in the fleet, before you book.

What's not included
Some things are never covered by any rental insurance anywhere, and our policies are no exception — driving under the influence, off-road driving, intentional damage, unauthorised drivers, and similar situations. The full list is in the rental agreement.

Compulsory motor-act cover (Por Ror Bor)
Thailand requires a separate compulsory motor-act policy on every vehicle. It is held separately from the main insurance and is displayed on the windscreen. You don't need to do anything — Joe maintains it.
